Skulte Beach from Lauči Boulder to Vārzu Beach
Description
Located in Skulte rural territory, Limbaži municipality, Skulte Beach is a 5.9 km long and approximately 30 m wide seashore, easily accessible from the A1 motorway Riga–Estonian border. It is home to the Vārzas public swimming area and the protected geological and geomorphological natural monument Lauči Secular Stone.
An informative and educational trail leads from the Vārzas public swimming area to the Lauči Secular Stone, equipped with benches, a wooden footbridge and informative stands on the origin of the Lauči Secular Stone, the formation of the coastal landscape and the development of fishing.
You’ll find recreation areas for sunbathing, sports activities and children’s play. The local information centre offers equipment for hire, as well as bathrooms for visitors.
Improvements made within the project
The project developed an informative and educational trail from the Vārzas public swimming area to the Lauči Secular Stone, installed informative stands on the origin of the Lauči Secular Stone, the formation of the coastal landscape and the development of fishing, benches, a wooden footbridge, bins, ensured portable wooden footbridges for convenient access to the beach. The project also constructed an exit ramp for rescue vehicles, a building for the lifeguard station, a tourist information and equipment hire point, installed toilets, fixed changing cubicles and bicycle racks.
A recreation area for sunbathing, sports activities and a children’s sector were established on the beach.
